On behalf of the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia & New Zealand (CSSANZ), General Surgeons Australia (GSA) and the Organising Committees, it is with pleasure that we invite you to join us for the CSSANZ & GSA 2026 Combined ASM, taking place from 21 – 24 October, 2026 at the Cairns Convention Centre.

Under the theme of ‘Hernia Roids & Rainforests’, the Scientific Program will explore advancements, modern approaches, and controversies across key areas of Colorectal Surgery, covering the following key clinical areas:

• Colon Cancer Emergencies
• IBD Emergencies & Management

The combining of the two societies offers a targeted approach and wider appeal, with attractive programs – combined and concurrent – appealing to subspecialised surgeons along with general surgeons who include Colorectal within their scope of practice.

Membership and Anticipated Reach

At the heart of both CSSANZ and GSA are is a membership combining over 2,000 across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand – united by a shared passion for surgical expertise, patient care, education and innovation. We anticipate the ASM attracting 400+ delegates made up of consultants, younger fellows and surgical trainees/doctors in training. The last time the two meetings came together was in 2019 when over 530 delegates came together in Hobart over four days, and we hope to exceed this in 2026.
