GSA Organising & Scientific Committee

Dr Masee Naidoo studied and trained in South Africa. He attained his undergraduate degree in 1998 from the Nelson R Mandela School of Medicine. After completing his Surgical Fellowship in 2005 he went on to complete a certification in colorectal surgery in 2008 through the Colleges of Surgeons of South Africa. He worked in the public sector and ran the dept of surgery at a university training hospital prior to leaving for Australia in 2019.

He attained his FRACS in 2021 and has been working Cairns Hospital since 2021.

Being South African trained, he has a wide interest in general and trauma surgery, with a particular focus on colorectal surgery. His other area of interest is surgical outreach, where the focus is once again on clinical skills and techniques in the absence of modern imaging and diagnostic tools (It also affords one the opportunity to explored otherwise unknown areas of the country).

He draws inspiration from the saying “it always seems impossible until it is done”.
